It really is this simple; I wonder now, how I could not have known this for such a long time….so understand completely if you weren’t aware of it either. You might like to read about the day everything changed for me, the enlightenment that transformed my life completely and irrevocably in New day, new life;Isn’t it time you had a good day, every day?
My life is sooo much easier now that I realise everything only ever comes down to only four possibilities.
So…are you ready to hear what they are and how they can change your life forever? Here goes…
1 Stay in your situation and be okay with that.
2 Leave your situation and be okay with that.
3 Stay in your situation and don’t be okay with that.
4 Leave your situation and don’t be okay with that.
For ‘situation’ you can read, job, relationship, house or anything else that is relevant to you.
I told you it was simple.
The main reason so many people seek coaching is that they’re continually choosing one of the last two options. This is not, of course, because they’re actively choosing to be unhappy, but because they don’t realise they have a choice. What I am passionate about is giving people that choice; empowering them to choose a happier, more fulfilling and more peaceful life, like I did.
May we agree before I go on any further that we don’t want to choose options 3 or 4? It is your choice but I’d always recommend 1 or 2!
Arguing with what is
When we argue with ‘what is’ we will never, ever win. If the weather is rainy and cold, we can complain all we like, we can sulk or shout or cry….but the day will still be rainy and cold. We won’t have achieved anything by being angry or disappointed except ruin our day and probably the days of those around us. I know, because I used to do this all the time.
It isn’t, of course, just the weather about which we have a choice, the same goes for anything you wouldn’t have chosen, any time you don’t feel you’re getting your own way.
Greet every moment like to chose it
When things don’t go as we planned, the easiest thing to do is feel disgruntled. It’s a harder choice to decide to be okay with how things are going and harder still to enjoy how life has turned out.
Yes it’s a little harder but, as far as I’m concerned, the best thing I ever learned. Having feelings we don’t like, is very unpleasant…usually much more unpleasant than the thing we doing the thing we didn’t choose.
I completely get that you may not believe choosing those feelings is under your control, but I’m here to tell you that it certainly is. It is immensely freeing to decide in every moment how you are going to feel, how you are going to react.
Going back to our four choices, and having accepted that we’re only ever going to choose numbers one or two, the only thing now is decide where you are going to be….in or out…knowing that you can be perfectly okay either way. If a situation is not serving you well, not what makes your soul sing, not healthy in any way, then take a step away from it. The decision whether to stick with a situation is as much your choice as to be okay with whatever your decision is, without overthinking it or wondering if you made the right call.
Please reach out if you’d like me to help you know that you always, always have a choice and how to make the healthiest one for you. Meanwhile I’ll leave you to ponder on the beautiful and wise Serenity Prayer.
